What are singular and plural nouns?

Singular noun

When we talk about one person, place, animal, bird or thing, we use the singular noun of the noun.

Example: cat, town, book, friend, duck, teacher

Plural noun

When we talk about more than one person, place, animal, bird or thing, we use the plural noun of the noun.

Example: cats, towns, books, friends, ducks, teachers

Rules of singular and plural nouns

Lets have a look at the singular and plural words and their rules.

We use singular noun+ -s to form the plurals of some nouns.

We use singular noun+ -es to form the plurals of nouns that end with –x, -s, -ss -ch and -sh
